Our Story

Here’s an idea:

A trades services company, offering competitive rates, high quality work, and most importantly: 100% of profit donated to the world’s most effective charities.

We thought it was not only possible, but about time someone made it happen. So we did. We (Calvin, an electrician, Kat, a community worker, and Jeremy, an environmental engineer) started a social enterprise trades service company, grounded in the ethos of effective altruism. 100% of profits is distributed amongst the most effective charities creating worldwide change in the realms of poverty and health.

In 2018, we started as a trades company specialising in electrical services, with big plans to grow to encompass all kinds of trades.

We’re pretty serious about creating change, both globally and right under our noses. Because of that, we’re committed to making sure our business is carbon neutral, gender equitable, and employs people often overlooked by the job market.

Our Directors

Calvin Baker

Calvin Baker

Operations Manager

Calvin has spent over 12 years in the electrical industry, with extensive experience managing commercial and residential fit-outs and maintenance, and has spent the last 5 years running his own business. As a passionate supporter of the effective altruism movement, he is dedicated to social change on a global scale. Give Industries is the natural result of combining his ethos and experience.

Kat Dekker

Kat Dekker

Public Relations Manager

Kat is a community worker, with a background in theatre and experience working in prisons and with marginalised and socially isolated communities. She never dreamed she’d be working in any capacity for a trades company, but then she never dreamed that a trades company like Give was possible. Kat is excited to be building partnerships with the local homelessness sector as Give explores ways of contributing locally through tiny house construction.

Jeremy Canard

Jeremy Canard

Safety and Sustainability Manager

Jeremy is an environmental scientist with experience in land contamination assessment, sustainable building and climate change studies. Jeremy is seeking to bring the best practice in health, safety and environmental systems to Give Industries and to promote sustainability in every project. He is very excited to be part of the first non-profit trade company in Australia with ethics, kindness and altruism as core values.
